Location: Mill Hill
Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum

Hours: Full Time, Permanent
Registration: NMC or HCPC

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Lead Scrub Nurse to join a respected private hospital in Central London. This role is ideal for a highly skilled practitioner with strong leadership ability and specialist scrub experience across orthopaedics, plastics and laparoscopic surgery.

About the Role

As the Lead Scrub Nurse, you will play a key role within the theatre department—supporting the delivery of safe, efficient and high‑quality peri‑operative care.

You will act as a clinical role model, overseeing daily theatre coordination, supporting the wider team, and ensuring procedures run smoothly and safely.
You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre practitioners and booking teams to support case flow, staff deployment and the overall management of theatre lists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the scrub team across all specialities, ensuring safe and effective practice
  • Scrub for a wide range of surgical procedures including orthopaedic (arthroscopy, power tools), plastics and laparoscopic cases
  • Oversee theatre preparation, equipment checks and patient safety standards
  • Manage daily lists, bookings, case flow and coordination of theatre activity
  • Work collaboratively with consultants and MDT colleagues to maintain high clinical standards
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior team members
  • Ensure adherence to governance, infection control and CQC standards
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • NMC Registered Nurse (Adult) or HCPC Registered ODP (essential)
  • Strong scrub experience in orthopaedics, plastics, laparoscopy, including arthroscopy and use of power tools
  • Demonstrable leadership experience within theatres
  • Ability to plan, manage and coordinate theatre lists
  • Excellent communication, decision‑making and teamwork skills
  • Passion for delivering exceptional patient care
