Senior Clinician – Mental Health & Safeguarding
Location: Home-based with national travel (England & Wales)
Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £50,000 + car allowance
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Clinician (Mental Health Nurse or Social Worker) to join a well-established national provider of adult care services. This is a key role focused on strengthening safeguarding practice and supporting high-quality mental health care across residential and supported living services.
The Role
You will provide specialist safeguarding and mental health expertise across multiple services, working closely with operational teams and senior leadership to ensure safe, effective, and person-centred care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert safeguarding advice and clinical guidance
- Leading and contributing to safeguarding meetings, reviews, and investigations
- Delivering safeguarding training (Level 3 and above) across the organisation
- Supporting the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Monitoring incidents, analysing trends, and producing regular safeguarding reports
- Advising on Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and risk management
- Supporting complex case discussions and care planning
- Working collaboratively with Local Authorities, NHS, Police, and external stakeholders
- Promoting trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
Requirements Essential:
- Qualified Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Social Worker
- Relevant professional registration (NMC or Social Work England)
- Strong background in mental health and safeguarding practice
- AAR (Adults at Risk) experience
- Experience leading safeguarding investigations and multi-agency meetings
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Mental Capacity Act (MCA) & DoLS
- Mental Health Act
- Safeguarding Adults frameworks
- Ability to work autonomously and influence practice at a senior level
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Level 4/5 Safeguarding qualification
- Leadership or management training
- Experience delivering training and supervision
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs (e.g. learning disabilities, ASD, ABI, forensic mental health)
