Are you an experienced Paediatric Recovery Nurse looking for a leadership opportunity within a dynamic surgical environment? We are seeking a highly motivated Paediatric Recovery Lead Nurse to join our expanding team in North London.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional with a passion for delivering outstanding perioperative care to children and young people, while leading and developing a specialist paediatric recovery service.
About the Role As the Paediatric Recovery Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for the clinical leadership and day-to-day management of the paediatric recovery service, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and experience.

Working closely with the Head of Paediatrics, you will lead and support the paediatric surgical team, drive clinical excellence, and contribute to the ongoing development of paediatric services. In periods where there are no paediatric surgical cases, you will work within the adult recovery service, maintaining a flexible and collaborative approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the paediatric recovery service, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to the paediatric theatre and recovery teams.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support and oversee the care of children and young people throughout their perioperative journey.
• Act as a role model, promoting best practice and evidence-based care.
• Deliver teaching, training, and mentoring to nursing and support staff.
• Identify learning and development opportunities across the team.
• Assist in service development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities.
• Work closely with the Head of Paediatrics to enhance and expand paediatric surgical services.
• Support adult recovery services when paediatric activity is not scheduled.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Registered Nurse qualification with current NMC registration.
• Registered Children’s Nurse (RSCN/RN Child) qualification.
• Significant experience working within paediatric theatres and recovery environments.
• Previous leadership, management, or team leader experience within a theatre or recovery setting.
• Strong understanding of paediatric perioperative and post-anaesthetic care.
• Experience in staff teaching, coaching, and mentoring.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
