We are currently recruiting for an experienced Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join a leading private hospital, working as part of a highly skilled Operating Theatre and Perioperative Care team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified ODP, Operating Department Practitioner or Theatre Practitioner looking for a permanent position within a professional and supportive private hospital environment.
The role offers full-time and part-time hours, with a variety of evening, night and weekend shifts available. Enhanced rates for unsocial hours provide an excellent opportunity to increase your annual earnings, with enhanced earnings of up to £52,000 – £64,000 per annum.
As an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), you will:
- Provide high-quality clinical care throughout the perioperative and surgical pathway
- Work alongside Consultant Surgeons, Anaesthetists, ODPs, Theatre Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary theatre team
- Prepare the operating theatre, anaesthetic equipment, surgical instruments and clinical environment for procedures
- Work across the anaesthetic, surgical and recovery stages of the patient journey, depending on experience and training
- Support the anaesthetic team with the induction, maintenance and emergence from anaesthesia
- Assist with patient positioning, preparation and transfer throughout the surgical pathway
- Ensure all anaesthetic, surgical and monitoring equipment is prepared, checked and ready for use
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical governance
- Monitor patients and respond appropriately to changes in their condition
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary Operating Theatre team
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records
- Follow hospital policies, procedures and professional standards at all times
- Support a positive patient experience throughout their perioperative care
We are looking for a qualified Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) who is confident working within an operating theatre, anaesthetics or perioperative environment and is committed to delivering excellent standards of patient care.
You will ideally have:
- A recognised Operating Department Practice qualification
- Current HCPC registration
- Previous experience working as an ODP, Operating Department Practitioner or Theatre Practitioner
- Experience within operating theatres, anaesthetics, surgery, recovery or perioperative care
- Strong knowledge of anaesthetic procedures, surgical safety and patient monitoring
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A professional, calm and patient-focused approach
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary theatre team
- A commitment to maintaining high clinical and professional standards
- Flexibility to work evening, night and weekend shifts
