We are currently recruiting for an experienced Theatre Recovery Practitioner to join a leading private hospital, working as part of a highly skilled Operating Theatre and Recovery team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Recovery Practitioner, Theatre Recovery Practitioner, Recovery Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Theatre Practitioner looking for a permanent position within a professional and supportive private hospital environment.
The role offers full-time and part-time hours, with a variety of evening, night and weekend shifts available. Enhanced rates for unsocial hours provide an excellent opportunity to increase your annual earnings, with enhanced earnings of up to £52,000 – £64,000 per annum.
As a Theatre Recovery Practitioner, you will:
- Provide high-quality post-operative and post-anaesthetic care to patients following surgical procedures
- Work within the Theatre Recovery / Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) as part of the wider Operating Theatre team
- Receive patients from theatre and undertake comprehensive post-operative assessments
- Monitor patients following general, regional and local anaesthesia
- Assess and monitor airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status and pain
- Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a patient’s condition
- Safely manage patients during recovery from anaesthesia
- Administer and monitor prescribed medication, analgesia and other treatments within your scope of practice
- Provide effective pain management, nausea and vomiting management and post-operative care
- Monitor vital signs and ensure accurate clinical documentation is maintained
- Liaise closely with Anaesthetists, Surgeons, ODPs, Theatre Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Ensure patients are clinically stable and meet appropriate criteria before transfer or discharge from recovery
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, patient safety and clinical governance
- Prepare and maintain recovery equipment, monitoring equipment and emergency equipment
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and support the management of deteriorating patients
- Provide reassurance, communication and compassionate care to patients throughout their perioperative journey
We are looking for an experienced Theatre Recovery Practitioner who is confident working within a recovery, PACU or post-anaesthetic care environment and is committed to delivering excellent standards of patient care.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as a Theatre Recovery Practitioner, Recovery Practitioner, Recovery Nurse, ODP or Theatre Practitioner
- Relevant professional qualification and registration, such as NMC or HCPC registration
- Previous experience within Theatre Recovery, PACU, post-anaesthetic care, operating theatres or perioperative care
- Strong knowledge of post-operative patient monitoring and recovery from anaesthesia
- Experience managing airway, breathing, circulation, pain and post-operative complications
- Excellent clinical assessment and patient observation skills
- The ability to recognise and respond to patient deterioration and clinical emergencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, professional and patient-focused approach
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary Operating Theatre and Recovery team
- Flexibility to work evening, night and weekend shifts
