We are currently recruiting for an experienced Theatre Scrub Nurse to join a leading private hospital in Kent, working as part of a highly skilled Operating Theatre and Perioperative Care team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Scrub Nurse, Theatre Nurse, Scrub Practitioner, Theatre Practitioner or Registered Nurse with operating theatre experience, looking for a permanent position within a professional and supportive private hospital environment.
The role offers full-time and part-time hours, with a variety of evening, night and weekend shifts available. Enhanced rates for unsocial hours provide an excellent opportunity to increase your annual earnings, with enhanced earnings of up to £52,000 – £64,000 per annum.
As a Theatre Scrub Nurse, you will:
- Provide high-quality scrub and perioperative nursing care throughout surgical procedures
- Work as an integral member of the Operating Theatre and multidisciplinary surgical team
- Prepare the operating theatre, surgical instruments and specialist equipment prior to procedures
- Undertake scrub duties for a range of surgical procedures and specialties
- Maintain a safe, sterile and fully prepared operating theatre environment
- Ensure all surgical instruments, equipment and consumables are available and correctly prepared
- Assist the surgical team throughout procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and wider theatre team
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection prevention and control standards
- Carry out accurate instrument, swab and needle counts in accordance with hospital policy
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation for surgery
- Participate in the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and other theatre safety processes
- Liaise closely with Consultant Surgeons, Surgical First Assistants, Anaesthetists, ODPs and Theatre Practitioners
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
- Support safe patient transfer to and from the operating theatre
- Contribute to a positive patient experience throughout the perioperative journey
- Maintain high standards of clinical governance, patient safety and professional practice
- Support the wider theatre team across anaesthetics, recovery and circulating duties, where appropriate to your experience and training
We are looking for an experienced Theatre Scrub Nurse who is confident working within an Operating Theatre and surgical environment and is committed to delivering excellent standards of patient care.
You will ideally have:
- Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse
- Previous experience working as a Scrub Nurse, Theatre Nurse, Scrub Practitioner or Theatre Practitioner
- Previous experience within an Operating Theatre, perioperative or surgical environment
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of scrub nursing and aseptic technique
- Experience preparing and handling surgical instruments and theatre equipment
- Good understanding of infection prevention and control and surgical safety
- Experience working alongside surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs and multidisciplinary theatre teams
- Excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills
- A calm, professional and patient-focused approach
- The ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team
- A commitment to maintaining high clinical and professional standards
- Flexibility to work evening, night and weekend shifts
